Who we are
Solid Ground Movement was founded in 2004 by Alida Dors and Bryan Druiventak. Alida and Bryan come from the hiphop scene and have danced along with the development of hiphop since childhood.
After years of dancing in the scene, they specialised in the theatrical side of hiphop dance. Nowadays, they go through life as makers. As a result, they offer new talents the opportunity to shine on stage, discover their own strength and share it with the community.
Alida and Bryan do not shy away from being innovative and groundbreaking in their approach. Because passion is a connecting theme, our hiphop dance school reflects our culturally diverse society.
In 2009/10, Henry O’Tawiah emerged victorious at the world-famous dance event “Juste Debout Netherlands”, earning him the opportunity to travel to Paris and represent his country. Soon, he was known as one of the most versatile dancer and choreographer within street dance styles, not only in the Netherlands, but worldwide. Later on his career he got intensely engaged as a theatre maker, crafting inspiring and beautiful pieces.
Henry has been part of Solid’s family since his teens years. He was always involved somehow in the school and believed in its mission. It was only natural that after Alida stepped down, he would join Solid’s team and take over the educational programme.
Our mission
We believe that the arts field should be inclusive and diverse in all areas. We believe that hiphop dance is not only cultural expression and creativity, but also a powerful means of promoting social cohesion and involving young people in arts and culture. A perfect medium to make the arts field accessible to everyone, while originally remaining black culture.
Hiphop is still the most influential and inclusive art form in the world! And Solid wants to be the knowledge desk where dancers and choreographers can delve into the techniques and rich history of hiphop dance.
By anchoring hiphop dance in the art supply, we are committed to ensuring that the full breadth of hiphop dance's uniqueness is recognised and appreciated.
